Salt and Light
"You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste (its strength, its quality), how can its saltness be restored? It is not good for anything any longer but to be thrown out and trodden underfoot by men."- Matthew 5:13 AMP
"Let your light so shine before men that they may see your [a]moral excellence and your praiseworthy, noble, and good deeds and [b]recognize and honor and praise and glorify your Father Who is in heaven." Matthew 5: 16 AMP
Have you ever felt conflicted? Wanted to follow your heart but still blend in with the crowd? That's all entirely normal and happens to us all. Going through classes, different academic stages, and even social circles can cause a yearning to "fit in." But, God is calling His children to be something special and sometimes that requires us to be different. It requires us to follow whatever He speaks to our hearts. Salt makes things flavorful and light illuminates the darkness. Imagine what kind of difference these two elements make in our world. On days when you feel like blending in or going against your heart, remember God made you to be special, different, and an agent of change.
Prayer for Today: Dear Lord, there are times when I just want to fit in. I want people to like me and what I have to offer. Help me to remember that I was made in the likeness of Christ and with that, the responsibility to be pure and full of light. Remind me that you will always protect me, but especially when others are less accepting. In Jesus' name. Amen.
