Oh, You're Mad?
"Should you not fear me?" declares the Lord. "Should you not tremble in my presence? I made the sand a boundary for the sea, an everlasting barrier it cannot cross. The waves may roll, but they cannot prevail; they may roar, but they cannot cross it." Jeremiah 5:22 NIV
""Now gird up your loins like a man, And I will ask you, and you instruct Me! 4"Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? Tell Me, if you have understanding, 5Who set its measurements? Since you know. Or who stretched the line on it?…" Job 38:3-5
Can you picture the scene? You are absolutely fuming because as a believer, you asked God for something and you didn't get it, right when you wanted. You are pacing around, thinking of how you have to give the Lord a piece of your mind. Or better yet, how you're going to stop going to Him in prayer, because that will definitely get His attention. Well, when Job felt enough strength from his sickness, he tried to approach the Lord and plead his case. I can only imagine what degree of attitude Job approached the Lord with to merit the type of response he got. My dear friends, the Lord does not reject us when we feel angry. He will not punish us for coming to Him with our worldly frustrations; Jesus warned the disciples the world would be full of problems. But, what the Lord Almighty will not tolerate is disrespect, disdain and dishonor. Do not expect anything positive to come out of approaching the Lord's throne with rage towards Him. No matter how bad things seem or how angry people are making you feel, remember the Lord is there as a comfort, not a personal punching bag. We must always show reverence and honor, lest He chastise you the way He did Job.
Prayer for Today: Dear Lord, thank you for being so awesome. Thank you for not simply striking me down when I approach you like a brute, senseless fool. Sometimes I fail to understand just who you are and what you have done. Sometimes I fail to understand that you are the great I Am, the Holy One, the Almighty Alpha and Omega. Please forgive me, Lord, when I attempt to sully your name and reputation. Please forgive me when I forget that you formed me in my mother's womb, in a secret place. Please forgive me when I fail to understand that you have me in the palm of your hand and how you'll never leave nor forsake me. Remind me that you are not a man that you should lie and I must serve you. Keep me in your awesome presence, always. In Jesus' name. Amen.
